7-Day Reading Reset
A quieter kind of reset. Use any book, ebook, large-print edition or audiobook you choose. There is no required title and no page-count goal.
Your only goal: spend a little intentional time with words and notice what the reading experience gives you.
Day 1 — CHOOSE YOUR DOORWAY
Pick the book or audio experience that feels easiest to begin—not the one you think you “should” read. Give it 10–15 minutes.
Reading note: What made this particular book or format feel approachable today?
Closing line: I am allowed to read for curiosity, comfort and enjoyment.
Day 2 — MAKE READING INVITING
Change one thing that makes reading easier to enter: your seat, lighting, phone position, headphones, font size, bookmark, or time of day.
Reading note: Which small setup change made the experience feel more inviting?
Closing line: My reading space can support the way I want to feel.
Day 3 — FIND ONE SPARK
Read or listen for 10–15 minutes. When something catches your attention, pause. In your own words, jot one idea, image, question or feeling it sparked. You do not need to copy a passage.
Reading note: What made me pause, wonder or look at something differently?
Closing line: One meaningful moment is enough.
Day 4 — CHANGE THE FORMAT
Experiment with a different reading format if one is available: print, ebook, audiobook, large print, text-to-speech, or a different reading location.
Reading note: Which format or setting helped me stay connected to the story or ideas with less effort?
Closing line: There is more than one right way to be a reader.
Day 5 — FOLLOW A THREAD
Choose one theme, character choice, question, setting or idea from today’s reading and follow it for a few minutes. Notice where your mind goes without turning it into homework.
Reading note: What thread am I curious to keep following?
Closing line: Curiosity can lead without rushing me.
Day 6 — SHARE OR SAVOR
Choose your own version: tell someone what you are enjoying, leave yourself a three-word reaction, or simply sit with the reading privately for one quiet minute afterward.
Reading note: Did I want to share this experience or keep it close today—and what did that tell me?
Closing line: My reading life can be social, private, or both.
Day 7 — CREATE YOUR BOOK TRAIL
Do not build a rigid reading schedule. Instead, choose your next trail: continue this book, sample a new genre, switch formats, revisit a favorite, or join a future Collective Reads discussion.
Create a simple Next Read Card: Title or topic • Format • Why it interests me • What kind of reading mood I want next.
Reading note: What kind of reading experience do I want to choose next?
Closing line: I can keep reading in a way that feels like mine.
Reading Reset Complete
You completed a week of reading without turning it into a performance. Keep your Next Read Card and come back whenever you want a quieter reset.
